The secure and patient space you’ve been looking for

Let’s start with the most important thing to know about HSR Chat: we value everyone’s safety and comfort above everything else. No member of The Homeschoolers’s Chat will ever be pressured to take part in any conversation or event against their will. We offer some great opportunities for socialization, but whether you would like to participate or not is entirely up to you.

HSRC was founded by an extremely shy homeschooler, (that’s me, Anne) with more than enough social anxiety for one person. The Homeschooler’s Chat works hard to guarantee that every member feels welcome and inspired to come back to the space over and over again. We know what it’s like to feel alone, and it’s our goal to bring a sense of community and support into your day.

So, what can you expect when you join the Discord server for homeschoolers?

Expect to be greeted! Our users love to welcome new members into the homeschooler’s chat. Don’t worry about being overwhelmed though! While you can look forward to a simple “hello” or “welcome”, our users know how intimidating it can feel to join a new space. Because of this, everyone will be happy to help you out if you have questions, but there’s no pressure to get involved or share anything about yourself if you’re not ready.

On the subject of sharing information, be sure to check out our information about staying safe on Discord to have the best and safest experience on the platform.

When you join, you’ll also find a guide, like a tutorial in a video game, which will explain to you our rules, how our group chat works, and a bit about our background.

How do you find homeschooling and unschooling friends in HSRC?

You’ll find opportunities to introduce yourself, learn about the existing members, get to know our staff team, and check out the safety measures we have in place as you explore our online homeschool group.

There are unique areas within The Homeschooler’s Chat where you can create a post listing your hobbies, interests, what you’re looking for in a friend, things you like and dislike, and whatever else you would like for the community to know about you. Consider using our unique about me form for this step.

In addition to creating your own post, you can browse through posts from other users and leave a comment if they seem like someone you might get along with or would like to know more about. This is one of the easiest ways to connect with peers who share experiences and interests with you!

What types of things do homeschoolers talk about in this Discord server?

HSR Chat members discuss all kinds of interesting, silly, exciting, and informative things in our group chat. For a quick peek at what that looks like, check out our social media pages.

Our Discord server has special channels for all kinds of topics. Users love sharing their artworks, funny videos, homeschooling tips, education resources, information about their favorite animals, updates on their personal projects, memes, advice, and more.

We have a robust set of content guidelines, which keep our space comfortable for everyone without limiting the fun and informative content that users can exchange.

Why do people stay in HSRC?

We wanted to know the answer to this too. We collected feedback from members of our Discord server. The goal was to understand what about our space appeals to our members.

We’ve heard overwhelmingly positive reviews of our space, citing the friendly atmosphere, the staff who genuinely care about everyone’s well-being, the lack of drama, and the consistent kindness from the entire community.

This server and pretty much almost everyone involved, has helped me so much in this past year. All of you have been so amazingly supportive.

Renny

Everyone is so nice and welcoming. You can interact with the community, or just relax and hang out, nobody judges you for just being on. I like that, no pressure to try and please people.

HSRC helped me find a very friendly community of homeschoolers and helped motivate my studies through resources and having peers to talk with
