Your Mental Health

Your health is more important than your education.

It’s okay to not feel okay.

Hi, friend! It’s Anne, founder of The Homeschooler’s Chat. I’m here with you so we can walk through some great mental health resources recommended directly from our community. These tools can help you take those critical first steps toward feeling better. All of the resources we recommend are LGBTQ+ friendly and free. Let’s take a look at them together.

Mental Health Is Health

Mental Health Is Health is more than just a website full of resources. This website is an incredible tool for those who become overwhelmed looking through long lists. You can navigate their website by clicking through “I’m Feeling…” and “I’m Experiencing…” tabs, which makes finding exactly what you need so much easier. This is my go-to resource for everything from anxiety help to supporting others.

The Trevor Project

The Trevor Project is one of the most well-known resources for LGBTQ+ youth. Their website is full of educational tools about mental and physical wellbeing. You can find a hotline on their website which is designed for the absolute safest and most comfortable process possible for individuals needing emotional support.

RAINN

RAINN specializes in domestic violence and sexual assault support. Reach out to RAINN to discuss your experience, ask for resources to get help, process traumatic events, and even just talk about what you’ve been through with someone. I, Anne, have used this resource myself and I wholeheartedly recommend their online hotline.

7 Cups

Talk through what you’re dealing with. 7 Cups volunteers are available 24/7 to chat with you. You can also access resources that help you grow and heal, or even volunteer to be a “listener” to help others in need. This resource comes highly recommended by members of The Homeschooler’s Chat community.

Crisis Text Line

Free online crisis counseling from the Crisis Text Line is a safe and easy way to find support and request tools to assist you in working through difficult emotions and events in your life. As with our other hotline recommendations, this the Crisis Text Line is available 24/7 and completely anonymous.

Mental Health America

Find resources, whether you reside in the U.S. or not. Mental Health America offers quick online mental health screenings, crisis resources, and information on mental health conditions. This is a great tool, whether you’re in need of help for yourself, or learning how to support someone else.

National Alliance on Mental Illness

Learn how to ask for help. NAMI has wonderful guides on how to talk to friends and family about your mental health struggles. It’s never too late to reach out, and NAMI’s tools can help you take the next step toward feeling better and healing sooner.

Reflectly App
