Information for Study Leads and attendees
What are study sessions?
Our Discord server has weekly study sessions for all to join in! Whether you’re working on your educational assignments or enjoying a personal project, study sessions are a great way to stay on track and motivated. These events are hosted by members of The Homeschooler’s Chat community, which makes them a fantastic way to make connections in HSRC.
When are study sessions?
Blue Study Group gathers weekly on Wednesday (or Thursday, depending on time zone) at 11:00am EST/4:00pm GMT. These sessions are ideal for user in the U.S., Europe, etc.
Red Study Group gathers some weeks on Wednesday (or Thursday, depending on time zone) at 10:00pm EST/3:00am GMT. These sessions are ideal for users in Asia, Oceania, etc. Whether the Red Study Group sessions is up to the hosts, so these may not be weekly!
How do I join study sessions?
Start by heading to the “Channels & Roles” tab at the top of the channel list in The Homeschooler’s Chat Discord server. From there, you can select the Blue Study Group role, Red Study Group role, or both. Choose based on the time that works best for you, listed beneath each role’s title.
You’ll receive a notification from a Study Lead when a session is starting.
Hop into the Study Zone or Pomodoro Study voice channel at the time of the session. Our users usually keep their microphones muted during study sessions. Some choose to share their computer screens with the group as the work, to help them stay focused.
Stick around for as long as you like! You can pop in or out at any time.
Check out the “Events” tab at the top of the channel list in The Homeschooler’s Chat Discord server to subscribe to automatic notifications for future study sessions.
What do Study Leads do?
Claim a date to host, via the monthly schedule ping sent out to users with the @Study Lead role.
Hop into the Study Zone or Pomodoro Study voice channel at the time of the session.
Send a ping to @Blue Study Group or @Red Study Group in #study-buddies, inviting them to join the session in voice chat.
Stick around in VC for 30-60 minutes!
Start the Pomodoro timer in the #pomodoro channel, if you’ll be using the Pomodoro method for this session.
