April Recap!

Spring was in full-blast during April in The Homeschooler’s Chat’s Discord server. Here’s a quick rundown on HSRC’s updates and upcoming events as we head into the summer of 2024.

Highlights:

Server Changes

  • Discord Polls: Discord rolled out the polls feature, which allows users to create polls for voting right in Discord’s messaging platform. We’ve introduced this feature within HSRC in the form of the #polls channel. HSRC members can use this channel to send polls about everything from Taylor Swift’s most recent album to their favorite lunch foods. Vote for fun and watch the results pour in!

  • Sharing images: Users will need XP level 5 (our Bronze Rank) to share images everywhere in HSRC. This includes the #photos-📸 channel.

  • Sharing links: Users will need XP level 5 (our Bronze Rank) to share links in the #links-📎 channel.

  • Speaking in voice chat: Users will need XP level 5 (our Bronze Rank) to speak verbally in voice chat. Users with XP level 1 (our Copper Rank) may use the built-in text chat within each voice channel until then.

  • Video in voice chat: Users will need XP level 10 (our Silver Rank) to use video or share their screen in voice chat.

May’s Art Challenge

Create a piece of art about something you use every day.

:Harold_Artist: What to submit

For this month’s art challenge we’re focusing on the things we rely on the most every day. Things like our toothbrushes, our knees, and that box of tissues you’ve been leaning on to get you through allergy season are taking center stage! To take part in this event you’ll want to create an artwork about one or more of your own every-day essentials.

:Harold_Wow_Wonder: Does the subject have to be an item?

Nope! Your subject just needs to be something you use daily. That could be anything from your favorite pair of shoes to your own eyeballs. Feel free to interpret this as creatively as you wish!

:Harold_Thumbs_Up: DO submit

  • A still image or GIF
  • Artwork that is 100% your own
  • Art created with this prompt in mind
  • Traditional art, digital art, or a craft (submitted as a clear photo)

:Harold_Thumbs_Down: DON’T submit

  • Work that is not 100% your own
  • Traced or copied artwork
  • AI generated art
  • Art created BEFORE this prompt

:Harold_Salute: SUBMIT YOUR ART BY May 25, 2024

To submit an art piece, you can either post your piece in our Discord server’s #monthly-art-challenge channel, or DM it to @hsrc on Discord before May 25, 2024 6:00 AM EDT!

May’s other events

More events are always being added to the schedule, so be sure to tune in on our Discord server for more! Have a happy May and stay hydrated, friends. ❤
