July Recap!
July was a great month in The Homeschooler’s Chat. From new weekly events to social media posts, and silly moments within the community, we’ve got a handful of updates for you this month. Let’s dive right in, as always!

✨ Social Media Updates
- HSRC now has an Instagram Threads account where we post unique content and share HSRC updates
- HSRC also has a Tumblr blog where we post unique content and share updates from our other social media pages
- Find all of our social media in one place on LinkTree
- New posts were added everywhere!
🌐 Website Updates
- Two new websites – Oak Meadow Distance Learning and Excel High School were added to our Education Programs page
- Update the About Me form
- Added a search bar to our Home Page
- Confirmed that Harold is not a cannibal on Our Mascot page
- Added links to our social media back to the navigation menu
💚 Server Updates
- Rule 4 of our Discord server was updated to include better wording that specifies anyone can request Discord’s “spoiler” feature which hides text or images behind a click or tap functionality.
- Added weekly Gartic Phone events every Friday at noon EDT
- Added #hall-of-fame channel for users to submit things to be posted on our social media pages
- New /mental-health command which links to our Mental Health Tools page
- New #Counting thread in #spam for counting together
- Added quick links to our social media pages in the #rules channel
- Added quick links to our social media pages in the #site-and-socials channel
🎨 August’s Art Challenge Prompt: Sprout Sprites
Create your very own Sprout Sprite based on the unique species of our mascot, Harold.

What to submit
The topic of this month’s art challenge is Sprout Sprites! Your challenge is to create your own Sprout Sprite. That could be yourself as a Sprout Sprite, one of your favorite characters as a Sprout Sprite, a celebrity as a Sprout Sprite, your very own Sprout Sprite original character, etc.!

What are Sprout Sprites?
Sprout Sprites are fictional creatures who live in an Enchanted Forest. Our mascot, Harold (the little green dude in our emojis) is a Sprout Sprite himself! If you have questions about Sprout Sprites which aren’t answered on their page on our website don’t hesitate to ask!

Things to know
- Sprout Sprite adults have wings, minors do not
- Sprout Sprites have NO OUTER EAR
- Sprout Sprites can come in ANY shade of green
- Your Sprout Sprite can have any type of plant on their head
- Adult Sprout Sprites may have flowers on their sprouts (on their head)

To submit an art piece, you can either post your piece in the #monthly-art-challenge channel within out Discord server or DM it to @hsrc on Discord before August 25th, 2024!
