HSRChat is the Discord server for home-educated students
HSRChat, also known as HSR Chat, The Homeschooler’s Chat, or simply HSRC, is the Discord server for homeschoolers, unschoolers, and online students. All teenagers are welcome, whether they are home educated or not.

HSRChat began in 2014
Beginning as an in-website chat room in January of 2014, The Homeschooler’s Chat has been helping home-educated students connect with their peers online for over a decade. In that time, HSRChat has expanded and evolved into a community hosted on Discord, a popular social messaging platform. It’s there that HSRChat’s game nights, art challenges, study sessions, and other exciting events for homeschooling students take place.

HSRChat welcomes everyone
Serving a variety of students, HSRC is home to unschoolers, online students, homeschoolers, alumni, and a handful of parents. There’s a place for every student in The Homeschooler’s Chat. Think of the group as an online homeschool co-op. Our community is here to meet the needs of every teenage student who enters our space.

HSRChat values each user’s experience
Chief among HSRChat’s core values is safety. Users looking for friends, free resources, educational help, or anything else in HSRChat’s Discord server are expected to approach the space respectfully and with the community’s safety in mind. Unkind language, dangerous content, or inappropriate conduct are not acceptable or permitted in HSRC’s Discord server.

HSRChat offers a unique appeal
HSRChat’s Discord server for homeschoolers and unschoolers brings something truly original to the table: our mascot, Harold. Teenage homeschoolers instantly connect with Harold’s homeschooling background. Through our mascot, a fandom-like environment blooms. HSRChat users discuss Harold’s story, his design, and his world daily. Via this original content, HSRC members always have something in common to discuss, joke about, and theorize over.

Is HSRChat safe for my teenager?
The Homeschooler’s Chat’s Discord server staff work every day to ensure that every user has a smooth and safe experience in HSRC. There are measures we recommend everyone take to protect themselves on Discord, including the built-in DM Spam and Explicit Image Filter, disabling the Allow Direct Messages From Server Members feature, and disallowing friend requests from strangers.
Our core team are adults who grew up in the HSRC community, volunteering their time here for over five years. We have specially configured safeguards in place to keep our community secure from scams, threats, inappropriate language, and harassment. Please check out our Community Guidelines to get an idea of HSRC’s environment.
While HSRChat is safe itself, Discord overall is just as risky as the rest of the internet. Read HSRC’s article Discord Safety: 7 Key Steps To A Peaceful Discord Experience for more information on safety and help with Discord.

In Summary
HSRChat, HSRC, The Homeschooler’s Chat, whatever you prefer to call it, is the largest and most wholesome Discord server for unschoolers, homeschoolers, home-educated students, and any teenager seeking a safe space to hang out online. This group chat is carefully monitored by adults who grew up in the community. Through fun events, HSRChat creates a clubhouse-like environment for teenagers to socialize and feel supported.
