This is our last monthly recap post!
Moving into 2025, HSRC updates will be arriving as-needed, when big changes have been made. You can still view any minor changes happening in our Discord server’s News channel.

Activity Permissions Update 💪
Silver Rank can now use activities again
Discord changed how activities work. Random activities are no longer added to our server. Yippee! Because of this, Anne has reduced the rank requirement for using activities from Gold Rank to Silver Rank. This may be reduced again in the future.
Voice chat hangout pings 🔔
A whopping 88% of users who filled out this month’s Google Form survey were in favor of having a special place for @Hangout pings. You can now use 🫶｜hangout-pings in the same way as 💞｜study-buddies, with the !hangout command.
Welcome Pings 👋
Do you really enjoy welcoming new users to our Discord server? Do you just love getting pings? You can now obtain the @Welcomer role if you’d like to get pings when it’s time to welcome a new user to HSRC!
Question of the day pings ❓
Finally. New bot. No paywall. We can now have QOTD pings without coughing up cash to the old QOTD bot. If you like pings, go grab this role in the Channels & Roles tab at the top of the channel list in our Discord server. Have ideas for questions of the day? Use the /suggest command to submit your suggestion!
Add every channel to your channel list in one click 👆
Tired of having to select the “add to channel list” button? There’s a new option in Channels & Roles called “I want to see EVERY channel!” which will add every channel category to your list once. It’s like the “show all channels” option, but in the form of a cute button.
🔮｜truth-or-dare has arrived 🔮
Enjoy answering truth or dare questions (all PG) and find stuff to chat about easily.
Experimental Category 
A shiny new category has arrived! This space is a special place for us to test out your channel ideas. Do you think we should have a channel just for chatting about language studies, or maybe yapping about your favorite anime? Throw your suggestion in our suggestion channel and it might become an experimental channel! Read more info about this in 🧪｜experimental-info.

Meditation, yoga, workouts, journaling, etc. can all be discussed in this new channel! Check out this message for more information.
HSRC Team Additions 👥
I’m very excited to share that two new users have decided to join a trial period in HSRC’s staff team as chat helpers. This is a brand new role which we’re calling Guards! Look for a special icon with a sword next to these users’ names to spot them in chat.
What Guards do 
Guards help to keep chat comfortable by upholding the spirit of our rules. These users can take action on behalf of the team in the form of timeouts, warns, and voice chat mutes.
Tickets, reports, etc. 
Elevated cases such as reports, tickets, and out-of-server conduct will still be handled by Knights, Squires, or myself. Please do not ask Guards for information or help on these cases.
Guards assist exclusively with in-chat cases 
These users specialize in handling cases within chat. Examples include inappropriate conduct, spam, and discussion of topics which are not HSRC safe. Guards are well-versed in our rules, so their responses in these cases should be viewed as official.
Staff conduct 
Guards are bound by our staff conduct policy, meaning these users cannot accept reports via DM or discuss moderation cases. Please continue to use our report system for all reports, as described in 📌｜safety.

These users have accepted a trial period offer for the Guard role. It’s very kind of them to volunteer their time to help HSRC remain comfortable for all. Please allow them time to adjust as they decide whether to remain on the team in the coming months.
December’s Art Exchange 🎁
Instead of our normal art challenge this month, we’re hosting a special art exchange event during December! Users can read all of the details about this event and sign up to take part in our Discord server.
