May of 2024 is 100% complete. Happy graduation to our new alumni who graduated this past month! It officially feels like summer. Let’s recap the minor updates we had this month and get geared up for a fresh month, with a fresh art challenge!

Highlights:

Website Updates

  • NEW resource page: Arts & Crafts added. This list is still expanding. Thank you to the HSRC members who contributed!
  • New English Language Learning resources added! Thank you to Max for gathering these great tools. ❤
  • Reorganized the GCSEs resource page. Relevant YouTube channels are now all in one place at the bottom of each subject!
  • The Enchanted Forest playlist added to our playlists. Thank you to everyone who helped with this!
  • Added Education Programs page for paid and tuition-free programs, online schools, and curricula for homeschooling. This page is STILL IN PROGRESS and will be expanding substantially in the coming months.

Server Updates

  • New #resource-share channel added for users to share educational resources with each other easily.
  • Added ⁠#harold-and-friends for chatting about our mascot!
  • New Harold (HSRC mascot) emojis and stickers added!
  • @Harold’s Friends role added for notification pings when new content about our mascot and his friends is released.

June’s Art Prompt: Libraries

Create a work of art about libraries, or with a library theme!

What to submit

The topic of this month’s art challenge is the library! Libraries are incredible spaces for learning, diving into other worlds, and sometimes even a safe space to hang out or get away from the heat in the summer. To take part in this event you’ll want to create an artwork either about libraries or with a library theme! Example ideas:

  • Draw a famous library
  • Create a poem about your local library
  • Illustrate your favorite character(s) exploring a library

Can I submit a poem?

You can submit a poem or other written work as a visual file! That means a picture of your writing, a screenshot of your poem, or your poem over a fun background which you made! Please limit your poem to 10 lines or less

✔ DO submit

  • A still image, GIF, or animation (30 seconds or less)
  • Artwork that is 100% your own
  • Art created with this prompt in mind
  • Traditional or digital art or a craft (submitted as a clear photo)

✖ DON’T submit

  • Work that is not 100% your own
  • Traced or copied artwork
  • AI generated art
  • Art created BEFORE this prompt

SUBMIT YOUR ART BY June 25, 2024

To submit an art piece, you can either post your piece in the ⁠#monthly-art-challenge channel within out Discord server or DM it to @hsrc on Discord before June 25, 2024!
